Halloween 2007

Boo!!  Around the Robbins Halloween is a year long event as Bryce typically dons a new costume just about everyday.  His favorite costumes are Tarzan (underwear only) and a Knight.  These are just few from his rotation which include a pirate, football player, dinosaur, power ranger, fireman, soccer player, construction worker, Dash and a few I am forgetting.

2007-10-09 001 006

Little Q has not yet developed Bryce's passion for dress up, but I think it is inevitable.  As part of our Halloween tradition Aunt Nicky makes Halloween costumes for the boys.  Each costume is well thought out and constructed with great care and love.  The arrival of these costumes is a close second to the arrival of Christmas morning.

This year Aunt Nicky did some of her finest work.  For Bryce it was a Captain Hook costume to commemorate Bryce's 100th viewing of Peter Pan.  For Quinn, who out grew his original costume, a Disney Nemo outfit that only a 1 year boy (or girl) could pull off.

Halloween_2007 001

One night I put the Nemo costume on for Beth .......... didn't work out like I had hoped.

We were joined on Halloween by Papa and Grandma Hornor and our good friends David and Tiffany.  Papa and Grandma passed out candy while the rest of us took the kids around the neighborhood.

Bryce and Madie were very into the idea of getting candy this year.  They would run to every door, knock and yell "Trick or treat!! I would like two please."  This picture will likely be in the slide show at the wedding.

Halloween_2007 009

Quinn and Katie were just happy that they could walk up to the doors.  They would just make a grunting noise and point to the candy bowl.  The neighbors seemed to get the point.

As with most experiences in life each one has it's own unique joy.  Getting to see your kids filled with excitement and spending time with family and great friends makes life seem pretty good.  (I am listening to the new Alicia Keys album right now, so I am getting a little sappy......better end it soon.)

Fall in Sedona

This year we decided to travel to Sedona to witness the fall colors, since we were a little late on Flagstaff.  We were accompanied on the trip by the Stedmans.  As most of you know the Stedmans are like family to us.  We decided to make the trip to Sedona when Beth was called in to work on a Monday and got her normal Friday off.  Jenny worked an old fraternity brother of Alex and I for a room at the Junipine.  Alex and I don't know the fraternity brother and find it bit suspicious that Jenny was able to get him to reduce our room rate.

Anyway we all left Phoenix at noon on Friday and headed north.  We arrived at the Junipine around 3:00.  The Junipine is located right on the creek in Sedona and happens to be the mating place, (I mean wedding place) of Alex and Jenny.

Junipine_w_Stedmans 185

The Junipine did not disappoint.  We had a fantastic cabin with wonderful views of the creek.  The weather was cool and crisp.  The trees were showing their fall colors and we were all very happy to be in Sedona.

Junipine_w_Stedmans 014

We proceeded to head down to the creek where the boys through rocks and we even played a little 2 on 2 football.

Junipine_w_Stedmans 025

After this we enjoyed a nice dinner and some made smores by the fire.

Junipine_w_Stedmans 043

So if that wasn't enough good stuff, they boys went to bed early and Alex ended up getting naked and diving into the creek.  Unfortunately I don't have any pictures of that, but really there wasn't much to see.  (I made the last part up, but that sounds so much better than ... "we all went to bed by 10:30".)

The next day was more of the same.  We started off with a morning leaf jumping session.

Yes, that is my 3 year old with some serious game.  Quinny get's into the action below.

We ended up going on a nice hike up the creek.  The hike was highlighted by Bryce and Scotty's skinny dipping adventure.  It really only seems like yesterday that this exact same picture was taken of Alex and I.  The only difference was that we were 20 and hugging.

We finished the trip by driving up to Flagstaff for dinner.  It was another great 2 day trip with the Stedmans.  I have a feeling this will become an annual event.  I have placed more pictures of the trip in the photo gallery.

Quinn's 1st Birthday

Well our little (and last) one is now one.  It seems like just the other day that Beth was screaming in pain as Quinn entered the world.  I must admit that I was a little apprehensive about my ability to love another child as much as I love Bryce.  However, the first time I looked into those big brown eyes I knew right then that my parents were really telling the truth when they said they loved Amy and I the same amount.  Which is really disappointing because I always assumed they loved me more and just told that to Amy to make her feel better.

Quinn has been such a wonderful addition to our family and I cannot image our family without him.  It makes me cry just thinking about how blessed I am to have two wonderful boys.  They are blessed to be born to such a wonderful and loving mother.  Quinn is definitely a mama's boy, and why not.

Quinn is such a sweet kid and has a great personality.  If we could just get him to sleep more and poop less he would be perfect.

We celebrated Quinn's 1st birthday in San Diego with both sets of Grandparents and his Aunt and Uncle Baer.  We spent the day at the beach and then had a nice dinner and cake that night.

QuinnBirthday2007 140

After we got Quinn all hopped up on cake we decided to open presents.  Beth and I gave Quinn some of Bryce's old toys; we didn't even wrap them.  I mean why buy new toys when the ones we have are just fine.  Luckily for Quinn the other family members provided some real presents.

QuinnBirthday2007 183

Quinn is very fortunate to have such a wonderful and loving family.  The only thing he is missing is some cousins.  So if you are reading this and you are considering providing Quinn with a cousin I expect that you will be having sex tonight.

Please see the photo gallery for more pictures from Quinn's birthday.

San Diego Vacation 2007

Greetings everyone.  It has been a little while since my last post, but I have 2 good reasons (Bryce and Quinn).  I will start with an overview of our vacation in San Diego.  San_Diego_2007 377

We made our way to the beautiful city of San Dieago (As Ron Burgundy would say) during the last week in August.  We made the trip from Phoenix with our friends Bobby and Elica Kniffin.  Bobby and I went to college together and Beth and Elica have become close friends since their return to Arizona a few years ago.  Bobby and Elica have twp little boys as well, Aaron and Ty.  Bryce and Ty are great buddies.

San_Diego_2007 378

We stayed in a great house on Mission Beach.  The house was well equipped with bikes, kayaks, and other beach gear.

San_Diego_2007 212

We managed to get in group bike ride just about everyday and spent a lot of time in the water.  We received a visit from Mark and Maggie and their two boys.

San_Diego_2007 269

That put the count at 9 penises to 3 vaginas.  The night the Easterdays were down we had a fire on the beach and made smores.  It was a great night.

San_Diego_2007 285_edited-1

We also managed to work in 2 trips to Sea World, Sea Port Village and a Pardres game.  Bobby and I also tried our hand at surfing.  It made us both feel old, but sexy.

We had such a great time with the Kniffins.  The Kniffins departed San Diego on Saturday and our family arrived.  Barbara and Dave came in from PHX, Fred and Sandy drove in from Redlands and Mark and Nicole rolled down from Burbank.  We all spent the next 2.5 days together.  It was a great time.  We mostly played at the beach, but did mix in a night in Old Town.

QuinnBirthday2007 324

It was also Quinn's 1st birthday on that Sunday.  See the Quinn's 1st B-Day for more details.

On the second to last day of the trip Bryce, with a little help from Grandma, really took a liking to the ocean.  For the remaining 2 days if Bryce was near the ocean he was in the water.  It was really fun to watch him play in the waves.

What a great trip we had.  We are so blessed to have such good friends and wonderful family.    (See More Photo's in the Photo Gallery)

Starting to pull his weight

Well after months of changing dirty diapers and sleepless nights Quinn is finally starting to pull his weight around the house.  It has taken some time for us to train him, but it has really paid off.  Last night he prepared dinner for the entire family.  Now I am not a big fan of Cheerios and whipped sweet potatoes for dinner, but it was just nice not to have to cook.  As you can see he was very proud of his efforts.

June_2007 011

For most kids cooking dinner would be enough, but not Quinn.  He is a true Robbins and always has to over achieve.  So the next night Quinn decided to do our laundry.  As with the dinner there were a few small issues, but after a while I got used to the pink shirts.  The important thing is that he is pitching in and so happy to help.

June_2007 035

As for Bryce he continues to impress.  The other day he painted the entire kitchen.  It was great to sit back and watch baseball while Bryce painted.  He is such a great help.

June_2007 017

We could not be prouder of our kids.  They are such a great help to Beth and I.  Just to prove how far they will go to help I have included the following picture.

That's right, they can even do hair.

The Robbins Invade Newport Beach

Well we were at it again.  The Robbins clan invaded the residents of Newport Beach and things will never be the same.  What a great time we had getting to see our family and friends.

Newport_2007 035

Newport_2007 128

Sorry for the crotch grab in the above picture.

I was commenting to Beth and Amy how nice it was to spend time with my cousins Reece, Taylor, Fiona and Fraser.  It was the first time that we were all old enough to really relate to each other.  I was so impressed with each of them.  Their parents should be very proud.  They have all grown into such wonderful people and I really look forward to spending more time with them in the future.

I take away many found memories from the trip.  The following are some of the highlights.

Our first night a bunch of us made the trek down to Blackies.  This was after we had already consumed a great number of adult beverages at the beach house.  The posse consisted of Fred, Reece, Fraser, Ian, Robin, Dave, and Scott.  Amy and Beth made a short appearance, but did not stay long enough to get freaked on by the Mexican mafia.

danceo

I felt like the guy in the middle every time I tried to make a pool shot.  Dave, Rich and I tried to hang with Reece and Fraser, but we failed.  I guess we are not as young as we used to be.  That really holds true for Rich.  By the way, Dave it is nice to have you back on the drinking circuit.  You are the man.

It was great to get to spend a little time with Mark and Nicole.  Bryce and Quinn really love their aunt and uncle.  It was nice of them to make the trek down for the day.

Newport_2007 021

Newport_2007 090

We also got to see Mark and Maggie.  They are such a great couple and have a couple great kids.

Newport_2007 052

The trip was filled with the usual antics.  Lots of fun and dancing.  Well, when I say dancing I am using a very loose interpretation.  I would explain, but I think the following picture does a better job.

Newport_2007 109

I think that was the "Sprinkler", but not sure.

As usual my parents were stellar.  Beth and I are truly blessed to have two sets of great Grandparents.  It brings Beth and I such great joy to see Nana and Papa having fun with our kids.

Newport_2007 113

The best part was just getting to see everyone.  We don't get together that often, but when we do it's always fun.  Getting to watch my younger cousins play with my kids was great fun.

I know Bryce thinks he found a new friend.  Just a few more of my favorite pictures.

It was sad to leave.  I cried a little when I said goodbye to Amy.  I am so happy for her and Dave, but it was hard knowing that this was the last time I would see her before she leaves for Hawaii.  I guess that sounds funny considering how spread out the rest of the Robbins are, but she is my favorite sister and I will really miss her.

Thanks for having us, we had such a great time.  We love you all very much.

June_2007 163

We are all so very proud of her.  She received tremendous support during her 2 years of study from Dave.  While Amy had her head in the books, Dave was at home working and providing emotional support.  They make such a great team.  All that dedication has paid off, as Amy landed a job at the University of Hawaii.

Amy and Dave have always wanted to move closer to the beach; I think they have achieved that goal.  Dave is excited to start training for triathlons.

We all drove out to celebrate Amy's graduation.  We had such a great time.  We always have such a good time when we get together.  The following pictures were taken on the trip.
